ill tell you what another 2 years is. 2 years is time enough for those out there who aren't hardcore gm/chevy/camaro to say "ya know what, im tired of waiting, im going to get a mustang, cus they are sooooooo cheap right now and there's a big aftermarket already out. I'd hate to get the new camaro and be put in the ground cus there's no big aftermarket for it since the mustang has been out the whole time that the camaro ha been in remission"

im not pointing any fingers at anyone, nor am i talking about myself (ill drive my 94 till it dies before i buy a mustang). but i am showing how gm is faltering by waiting as long as they have and are.
origionally they said it would be an 09 model because the 69 was the best year for the camaro, so it was kind-of a "40th" anniversary but not really. GM SHOULD HAVE released this car at the end of 06 as an 07 model, slap a 40th ann badge on the side of the ss and they could sell the damn things for 50k easy. but no they are waiting and postponing this. and according to some of you they are now waiting even longer to release this car.
honestly im about tired of hearing speculation/rumors/etc. part of the main reason we have so many lurkers and spectators is the fact that most of the stuff on here is speculation. and people dont care about speculation. granted we've gone over every single possible version of the camaro and numerous other vehicles, but still i think a lot of those out there who aren't diehard fanatics will start to slink away from the 5th gen if it gets put out any farther.

ok, my brain hurts. immma look at some of dragon's ps's
I don't think that the first thirty made will acutally hit the streets. More likely they are a test batch. Testing the assembly line, which will be 100% brand new, and also crash testing. Any that are left will be collector items (like 2010 Chevrolet Camaro #00001). And as for why they are waiting so long, it has been less than two years since they built the first concept. And there is less than a year until the car enters production. Dodge can build the Challenger quicker because it is based off of an existing platform. That means that there is significantly less engineering to be done. The Zeta platform did not physically exist when the Camaro Concept was first built. This all follows the 1 2 3 rule of auto making. it takes 1 year to do a redesign of an existing car, 2 years to make a new car on an existing platform, 3 years to make a new car on a new platform. I'm sure that it would have been possible to release hand built copies of the Concept Camaro, but do you have half a million dollars to fork over for one? I don't.

Even though the production camaro has been assured to look very similar, it will not be the same. There are safety, cost, and manufacturing issues that have to be addressed. Most of the design and engineering of the car has probably been finalized by now. But there is also the manufacturing side of things. There are thousands of individual components that need to be assembled into the final product. These all need to be made by someone in massive amounts. So all the factories are going to start tooling up this spring to make the camaro parts once all the design is complete.

I want a camaro now too (can't afford it at the moment but I want one!) but the end of the wait is in sight. And in the comming months the details that we have been speculating about will become facts.
