I'd counter that with ... is there really a need for a ~$35k car with a 6.2L V8 making 500 hp? The next gen engines could be de-tuned somewhat and still make 450-475 hp while getting noticeably better mileage than todays cars. I'd call that a win win.

Oh, and I'm with Fenstick that the 5.5L will be a race only engine. I'm still enamoured with idea of the return of the 5.7L small block though.
