I have a good one for you guys, may have told it before but here goes.
In 1988, my family and I moved from NY to Nevada after the hostpital that my dad and my stepmother worked at shut down making them jobless. well while in Nevada my dad found this SWEET mint 1977 Datsun 280Z (not the later similar styled 280ZX). while the car was great it was only a 2 seater and my brother at the time was 6 so he has no problem sitting behind the 2 front seats and holding onto the luggage straps when we were driven to school in the mornings. but after a while my dad decided to get a 2nd car a nice low mileage 1985 Pontiac Firebird Ttop coupe with a V8 and a manual tran. the Pontiac was nice what I liked about the car was it had a set of 77/78 Trans Am 'bandit style' snowflake alloys on white letter tires. now that you have the back story here comes the 'fun' part.
well me and my brother missed our mom who was back in NY, my dad did not like his job and my step mom missed her mom, so we moved back to NY. my brother and I flew across country and stayed with my mom while they drove back and had 2 guys drive the Z and the 'bird back. when they got to NY they put the 2 sports cars in storage at a friends garage.
one day we get a call from the local P.D. and tell my dad he better come to the garage. we get there and find the Z with it's hatchback open and the stereo gone (pioneer tape deck nothing fancy but it sounded good), but the worst of it was the 'bird they used the Z's jack to jack up the car take the rims/tires broke the side glass and took the t tops. the insurance covered the lost of the tops and the wheels and we bought a set of similar 'snowflake alloys' from an auto trader and my dad pocketed the difference
