Lol, your alti didn't have the qr25de engine, did it? Back in my spec-v days, thevboard was full of people complaining about issues with those cars. Some of the major ones:

1. Precat failure, resulting in pieces of the cat being sucked into the engine, scoring the walls, and causing consumption of oil. Lots of engines were blown when the owner burned all his oil up. Others were told by dealers that a quart every thousand miles was normal!

2. The butterfly valves on the intake would shed their screws which would get sucked into the engine. Some were lucky and they were passed through without incident, others not so much.

3. Head gasket failures from the material being too thin. About once a week we'd see a post about mayonaise under the oil fill cap.

4. MAF sensors gone bad galore!

5. Fuel pump pressure issues on startup, causing hard starts.

And for non engine related:

1. foam snakes in the hvac that liked to find there way into the vents and clog them up.

2. Paint you could scratch with you fingernail (I tried this one on the lower fender just to see, and it was true)

3. My drivers side door leaked a bit in the rain.

That car was a blast, don't get me wrong, I loved it. And I'm not saying American cars are any better, just saying just because it's asian doesn't mean it's better.

And, I've known plenty of people that say they'd never drive an American car, that attitude is basically a fanboi attitude on either side.
