Sounds more like a 'damage control' spin to me. Just wanting people to buy the cars. If he can make it seem that saturn could still be around independantly then they can sell the cars that they'll have in final stock. And let people know that GM will still honor the warranty. It's what I would do.
Or he's hoping the times change rapidly for the better.
