I grew up in Los Angeles. From 4th to 6th grade, I went to a private school in Bel Aire called John Thomas Dye school. my best friend in 4th and 5th grade was Bob Newharts son. He got expelled. Don Rickles daughter also went there, and so both Newhart and Rickles would do a stand up routine for Christmas for the school. Clean humor, not Rickles normal stuff.

Other notable celebrities that went there were Lisa Marie Presley (she was 2 grades behind me), Carrie Hamilton (Carol Burnett's daughter). Hal Holbrook lived near us and I helped sandbag his house during flooding because a fire had happened that summer. He also tried to cheat off me while I was taking a ham radio test.

Jesse James (the car guy) stole my car stereo, wheels and tires and ran my 73 Dodge Charger SE (my first car) without oil because my car was in his shop getting a power steering bracket mounted on the 440 from another shop, and that other shop owner owed Jesse James money.

I've sailed with Warren Miller, and appeared in 2 of his sailing movies (no credits).

One of the best celebrity moments I ever had was in 1977, when my family was cruising up in British Columbia for a summer on a 51' Ketch. We anchored one night at the end of Princess Louisa Inlet at Princess Louisa Falls. There was one other boat there, a powerboat called Wild Goose. We were invited over for cocktails and dinner with the owner of the boat...John Wayne. Needless to say, having an evening with The Duke was very cool.
