My guess is that there simply aren't enough parents willing to punish their children anymore. In today's society, we have parents who let their children get away with just about everything shy of murder without any sort of negative repercussion.
Simple learning (in the psychological sense of the word) tells us that unless a behavior is responded to in a negative way (i.e. introducing negative stimuli/removing positive stimuli), the behavior will not be diminished. Now, I'm not saying parents need to beat their kids senseless (that's on a whole other level of wrong), but the lack of punishment is becoming detrimental to our society as a whole. I know that, personally, I'm as morally-oriented as I am because I was punished for my negative behavior.
While I came across this a few days ago, I give kudos to Casey for standing up to the little rat. To be fair (ha!), there are two sides to every story, but the evidence tells no lies. It's absolutely ridiculous that both kids had to be expelled, it's nice to see that the short one got 22 days. That's about as karmic as this is going to get.
