I have a 2011 Fiesta I bought brand new for $16,500 this year. So far through 5,500 miles I'm averaging 41.2 MPG or in other words near hybrid levels. A base Prius if I recall correctly starts at $22,000 before you get to options. I can't speak for everyone but I rather pocket the $5,500 I have by not having a hybrid.
