A damn shame

This is a story of abuse and neglect of a 96 Camaro V6 RS convertible. This car belongs to a guy who just moved into my appartment complex about a month ago. I've had several chances to examine this RS since he parks two spots over from my second car. The pictures don't do this justice there are dents all over the place, the paint is dry rotted, interior is rotting from neglect, the wheels are dented, the tires are bald with cracks in the sidewalls but at least the convertible top is okay shape (for now). Not once has this poor Camaro been started, not even once since it arrived a month ago.

As for the owner I did get a chance to talk to him. Apparently, the car was something left over after he divorced his wife. According to him the car has 140k miles and runs great. When I asked what kind of maintence needed to be done to the car he said that he didn't know, adding that he doesn't like American cars. Also he's looking to sell this poor Camaro for for 5k, in its current state its probably worth a grand at best. Now I thought I was doing the right thing by telling this guy if he was looking for a more realistic price I might be able to help find a buyer as I am a 5th generation owner and belong to a local Camaro club. No dice, this guy insists he'll get 5k grand for this poor Camaro.

More than likely this will be a story of a car that could be a nice weekend project seeing the crusher in the next year. I know this is a V6 but the fact that its an RS and a convertible would make it a nice option for someone looking to start a Camaro collection. Its this dude's car and he can do whatever he wants with it, but as someone who dedicates the time I do into my cars this is hard to see. :(
