Most of the time I'll go to Woodward Park, and take him down to the San Joaquin River from there. (It can be as quick as ten minutes from where you park your car.) We also walk all over both the river bottom and the park itself. Probably the most we walk / hike is 8 miles a day. He LOVES the river, and it really is pretty clean. If you look through this thread at all my dumb pictures, you'll see what the river looks like. I'll get in with him at least ten months of the year, but only go swimming once it gets in the triple digits. That water is kind of cold otherwise. Oh, some of the other pics are up at Shaver Lake! I'm sure Revo1 will be trying to get some things set up for everybody this summer. It's a great drive and then heading out on the boats is alot of fun! It's a beautiful lake, and the water feels warm to me for some reason...even though you are up a little in altitude!
I might also add that if you want to go to Woodward Park, you should buy a year round pass. I forgot, but it's somewhere between $25-$35 a year, and pays for itself if you go alot!
