I'm not sure what is going on with the G8 and its manual. Initial reports were that it wasn't going to be initially released with a manual, but one would come a few months into the 2008 model year. Then I heard it wouldn't be introduced until the 2009 model year, if at all. They say it might earn the G8 a gas guzzler tax (what happened to manuals being more efficient?) so no guarantees it will ever have a manual. My thoughts on the matter is that the G8 is more of a cruiser anyway with its size. It can handle rather well (bodes very, very well for the Camaro) but it isn't exactly the must-have car for the track. So perhaps a manual wouldn't be the best fit in the G8, but I'm still hoping for a smaller RWD V8 powered sedan or coupe from Pontiac, so hopefully that will be given a proper manual. Sadly, so many manufacturers are moving away from the manual, either not offering one or not developing good ones, and GM, while still making good manual transmissions, seems to be part of this trend.
