Lucita (7), aka The Dachshund of War™, was abandoned after 5 years by a family looking to cut costs. We took her in and she quickly fit into the pampered life style which is her natural due. 1/2 Dachshund, 1/2 Jack Russel; she has the best traits of both.
Secundo (2), aka The Terrier of the Apocalypse, was found severely malnourished and showing signs of being abused. He was so weak when we met him he couldn't even climb into my wife's lap while she was sitting on the floor. Ribs were showing and someone had shaved off his whiskers. But still friendly and loving from the first moment. All fattened up now and regular workouts have re built most of his muscle mass. Thoroughly dominated by his sister. Pure street dog, found on the edge of a fairly bad township south of Johannesburg by a GM employee. Turning into a fantastic companion with a little training.
Mr Pablo (16), a seal point Burmese Cat, who is best described as a retired hit man hiding out as a beatnik. It's the only way to explain why he's always stoned on catnip, yet wins every fight in the house.....even with no claws. He was declawed before he came to us as a wedding present along with his sister below.
Ms Marie, (13), a mackerel Tabby, who is just grumpy and crabby to the point of extreme...except with me. The most loving animal when alone and calm, 10 blades of viciousness when cornered. The latter being of concern because she isn't to graceful.
