I don't see a problem with this law. I'd rather not have giant 4x4's on the road crashing their 30" bumpers directly into my windshield. And if it gets rid of the donks, that's just an added aesthetic bonus.

Agreed. Not all laws are stupid. Pick your battles, and the 3" restriction is reasonable. I go off-roading with my friend and he has a lifted truck (not above 3") and a regular Jeep Wrangler (unlifted) and both cars can navigate tricky stuff equally well. Any more than this is vanity. And if you really "needed" more than this - then you should truck it like people with drag cars.
I may drive a high-performance car but it functions in a safe manner to other vehicles. A driver of an extremely lifted car cannot function on a public road in a safe manner - no matter how safe one drives, accidents do happen.
