Many manufacturers use the ring to 'learn about their cars'...how certain changes will effect its manners, etc....Just because someone takes their car to the ring doesn't mean that's "it" as far as suspension tuning.....
This is the theory I've held on to for a while now, it explains why the Camaro's ring time wasn't as good as we thought it would be, despite being unofficial.
