There's much to be said about just enjoying the drive, which isn't all about pure performance numbers. It's also about sound, about road feel, road noise, tactility - ie. "character". Someone said that any ape can do 11s in the GT-R - just push the accelerator and the computer does everything else. So what you're really buying with a GT-R is an expensive simulator.

With a car with "character", the car and the driver are one. The car becomes better because the driver understands the car, and the driver becomes better because the car teaches the driver. It's a symbiotic and equal relationship.

For an owner of a GT-R, the word "character" is a euphemism for expensive maintenance bills.
