I dug around and the only place where I found a note about losses was under the B-Spec drivers. Your A-spec profile (and each individual car) shows wins but not losses. Even if losses were counted, I can't think of anything that it would affect. Besides, you can always bail out before the end of the race.
Just by watching how far I'm behind the leader and keeping track of remaining laps I can tell if I have enough car to win. I think I've only been wrong twice and came in second place side-by-side with the winner.

Plus, depending where you are in the game, there's a good chance that Corvette will come in handy again. Did you race modify it? If not, be aware that you lose ALL your "regular" mods when you race modify.
