Hmm, looks like we've been sent to another thread
Anyhoo. The more I learn about cars, the more respect I get for american muscle. For one thing, I thought horsepower was horsepower, regardless of what engine it comes from. Oops. A 6L naturally aspirated V8 gives much better performance than a small high reving turbo charged inline 4. Why? I could explain it here but this guy does a great job
http://craig.backfire.ca/pages/autos/horsepower Go about 2/3 of the way down.
But as for Camaro vs Imports vs Mustangs vs Challengers (how did they get left out)? I pick Camaro. The old comeback from the imports was that american cars can't turn, the Camaro will! Maybe not as great of handling as some of those little imports but take 'em to a track. The gains that the Camaro will have in the straights will put it ahead, then it will hold its own in the curves. Same for the other two too i guess. And thats performance numbers. Styling? to each their own, I love the Camaro, mustangs aren't too bad either, Challengers? Like I said, designed with trace paper. And imports, to me most either look boring or ugly, never mean.
And to the idiots (commonly called ricers, though there are some who do it to domestics) who make stupid body mods and install boost gauges when there is no forced induction, or shift lights on an automatic, and the list goes on. Well to them, I really feel bad for their cars. To the other import drivers who drive nice stock machines or improve the performance of their cars, I have no problems with. Some are quite impressive. But those other idiots give you a bad name
