1st cute dog. I've had two dogs in my lifetime both labs, both at 6 weeks old, and it's a great chance to bond with them while their young. What I've always done is first take them to the vet to get the check ups and shots done so nothing sneaks up. The sooner you get all this done the better and healthier your dog will be, and cost you less also.
Both of my labs were indoor dogs and while we did have accidents in the house I took them to the door every two hours and put the leash on them then took them out and used a phrase for peeing "find your spot" and gave them a treat when they did. Eventually both dogs walked to the door and sit when they want to go out.
The main thing is to give your dog plenty of exercise and make it feel apart of your family, both dogs I've owned are a blast. My current lab is extremely playful but is loyal.
