bigralph, thanx for a post that totaly waisted an hour of my day.

I did learn some things though. Like, for instance, I really don't give a damn.

It's my opinion that most of NASA and space exploration in general is a big fat waste of money.
If it weren't for NASA you wouldn't have the computer you are using to read this right now. The exploration of space prompted the development of powerful, lightweight electronics. And if you don't like them for their practical value, appreciate them for their strategic military value. The technology for space based telescopes to peer into space is quickly adapted for spy satellites to find hidden bunkers. There are countless other examples I could cite if you wish.

But they are incredibly wasteful in their resources. As an organization, NASA has a lot of serious issues.
