My first car was a 1964 4-door Chevy Impala, so rusted that all you had to do to unlock it was stick you finger in through the rust hole near the door handle and push the lever inside. The frame was so rusted and bent that it went through a set of tires every 4 months. It had black interior with a bench seat that had holes in it too. When I asked my mother to pick up a seat cover for the front seat so I could go on my first date with the girl who has now been my wife for over 30 years, she got me one that was fur (synthetic of course). It was so slippery. I made sure to keep taking right hand turns rather quickly since there were no seat belts in the car. She couldn't stay away from me!
But, it got me through college and to my next car, a 1969 Opal GT, and after that, two years into my first new car, a 1977 Pontiac Sunbird. By the way, my date from the 64 Impala only lasted a couple months and then we went our separate ways. It was about 4 years later we got together and married. She said that she thought I had money now that I finally had a new car. Boy was she wrong!
