Think of it this way - Unitas was a 40,000 yard passer in an era when football strategy consisted of running, running, then passing on third down. The West Coast offensive strategy was still 15 years away. Also, he only played 12 game seasons for most of his career. Give him 16 game seasons and he would have been a 60,000 yard passer.
Also consider that he played in the days when all the passer protection rules weren't in effect. He took his share of hits and kept going. In today's "protect the passer" game, he would have been even more productive.
If anything, people like Brady and Manning wouldn't have been nearly as good if they had to play in his era.

Totaly different game. NO way to tell. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. What happens when a defense keys on the run? A good QB has a great game. He caght everyone off gaurd maybe. I'd have to have watched him though.
I just think that when it's a prodominantly running game, the passing will benefit greatly. The fact that it was mostly running back then probably HELPED him.
