She didn't have insurance or a pot to pee in. She was driving an old 70's Ford LTD on it's last legs.
Unfortunately, in this case, the taxpayer had to pick up the tab when the USAF had to pay all of the bills instead of her insurance.
I believe that our system fails badly on allowing the elderly to drive without tests. I believe that after the official retirement age, the elderly should be required to take an annual or bi-annual hand-on driving test.
