Not even a 4th Gen Z/28? Or a Trans Am? Besides the window issues a high mileage Z/28 is a damn reliable car. Also plenty (relatively speaking) of hauling room in the back because like the 5th gen, all 4th and third gens had folding rear seats.
I'd go for a base V6 3.8L car with a few power options. They can be had for around 5K or less with decent miles if you search. And that 3.8L can be coupled to a supercharger if you want some more oomph. Just buy a salvaged unit from a GXP Grand Prix or a Regal GS. Clean her up, hook it up with the wiring units from the donor car and voila.. Granted you'll need a different pulley and intake but why the heck not?
Pushing 270hp with a tune. That's LT1 territory, son. Don't doubt the 4th Gen.
