What would she be worried about on the domestic? She is leasing so it will be gone before the warranty is up and don't lease cars typically take car of the maintenance?
You should go drive both to get a feel.
Personally I'm liking the Malibu as well. May not get as good as gas mileage as the Cruze but they look to be good. I had an '01 Impala LS (the loaded model) that I sold for the Camaro. I actually liked that car alot....don't really like the new Impala body style though. I bought my Impala used.....paid $10.5, 3 yrs old, and had 48k on it. Sold it with right at 100k on it. Had a few minor problems but nothing I would consider major at all. I probably had $13k in everything thing I did/fixed (including tires) and drove it for almost 6 yrs and sold if for almost $4k. For cars....it was a great return for the money.
BUT.....Camaro is a hell of a lot more fun though. Don't regret my decision at all but do miss the Impala on occassion.
