Not just Americans... Get this: during Xmas and New Years Eve parties, my dad always got into his army time stories and somehow ended up telling once again that his dad was killed by the Germans. He told us many times he hated everything German, yet... he drove nothing but "Opel" from when I was born until I was 19. When I pointed that out to him at the age of about 12, he never again said anything anti-German...
So, just to prove, it's not an all American thing to keep holding on way too heavy to something. I still like Minervas and other Belgian cars (this is a car forum after all, no??? LOL), but bar one (Gillet Vertigo) Belgian has gone far, far away from making their own brand of cars...
