34th America's Cup

34th America's Cup

Announced on December 31st, the city of San Francisco, California has won its bid to host the 34th America's Cup. This will be the first time since 1995 that the conquest for "yachting's holy grail" will be challenged for on American waters.

While my vote was for Newport, Rhode Island to host the cup I believe that San Francisco will offer an amazing venue that will allow the sport of sailing to reach more people then ever before. "We sought a venue that fulfills our promise – to showcase the best sailors in the world competing on the fastest boats," said Richard Worth, Chairman, America's Cup Event Authority.

"The world-famous San Francisco Bay will be home to the 2013 America's Cup Finals and the Challenger Selection Series for the Louis Vuitton Cup, as well as an America's Cup World Series event in 2012."

What are your thoughts on the 34th America's Cup? Are there any sailors on here like me? If not then I suggest watching the promo video below, its hard not getting excited after watching it even if it is CGI.
