Firestone is run by Brigestone, however the exploader tires that delaminated were re-spec'd by Ford for their own personal OE USE.
Ford wanted Nylon instead of Steel, and lowered the recommended pressure and used a slightly stiffer compound for better fuel economy.
That's why the off the shelf Firestone's were never recalled.
And for the Tundra early 5.7 woes...It was an american supplier that flubbared.....
What about all those pushrod/ modular motor recalls we've had...hmnnnnn..The 5.7 was also not TEI/DENSO(Toyota's Japanese Engineering Branches)...It was made in North America...The current generation Tundra's interior also mind you was produced by LEER.(Complete American Company)...
