Is weight being taken out and not mentioned? it just doesnt add up.

(highest trap I have ever seen for a 6 speed car stock is 114...he hit 119)

axle back...little gain...x-pipe...wow...and a tune. The car doesnt even have headers. The car really doesnt even have any real performance mods besides the tune. IT is far from full bolt on.

5-6 mph trap increase? that is 50-60hp all things staying equal.

someone educate me. (and I know all about the stock rev limiter...not buying that as the reason)

The car is trapping as fast as ls3 vettes while having no more power to the wheels (ls3 vettes ~390whp) and being 400lbs heavier...once again...educate me.

I know these cars get a lot form the tune while still being on the stock manifolds (such a good design) but this is just odd. I am skeptical to say the least.
Ti-VCT, high compression and the ability to make peak power at 7,500rpm is the main reason. More rpm sometimes is more beneficial then more whp.

Ive seen a 5.0L trap 117 with CAI, DR's and stock tune, and my friend trapped 112mph with a crappy 2.1 60ft his first time ever at the track.

The factory soft rev limiter (70%ish throttle at 6,800rpm) and full limiter at 7,000. Most tuner's raise it to 7,500+ which is why they are picking up so much mph because the the 5.0L's make peak power at redline and still keeps climbing. More rpm = quicker ET's and higher mph and usually wins roll races.

This is why Duramax's are now dominating the high end diesel drags and sled pull's because they can rev to 5,500 vs the Cummins which top's out at 4,000 even though the Cummins usually are making more hp and tq. This is another reason why Evo's are so quick and can beat vette's with alot less whp, and why Honda's even bother racing.
