That's actually pretty savvy
Most gas stations will only SELL a gas can - I ran out of gas a few years back, 100 yards from the station. They SOLD me a 1 gal. can for $9.99
When I went back and asked to return the car, they said, no way... I took the can and drove another two miles to another station and fueled there
At least by calling AAA, the 1 gal of gas was free
