Exactly and it being competitive is the name of the game it doesnt have to beat it. Just come in close to it, and keep the cost down. Thats how Ford's done it for many, many years. The pricing that I have seen for the 2010 model, not a discounted 2009 model the difference was only $1500. The Mustang gives up alot for just a $1500 price difference. To keep them rpm down I think they will drop it below the 400hp number. The numbers going around now is it has a 7000rpm redline. Drop that about 200 or 300rpm, lose a little power but still be close and come in at or below cost and Ford will keep the Mustang fans happy. The only other thing I dont see happening is keeping the weight down at its current level. Be ready to see the Mustang come in heavier then its current weight. It gained weight, not much I think less than 50lbs, but gained weight just changing over body panels to the 2010. Now add a new engine, transmission, and the newest safety standards the weight is coming. Just how much they can shave off and is that cost going to be passed on to the buyer. Then again add weight add hp and keep cost down. Knowing Fords past I say add the weight, hp, and keep the cost down.
