Getting sciencey for a minute here. Tanning beds are UV-A rays only, which is what let's you tan. However it is the UV-B rays that burn you. When you get sun burn it is your body protecting itself from the harmful rays of the sun. Why people willingly choose to destroy their bodies with radiation I do not know.

I wish I had been smarter in my youth, but then again, we always think we 'know it all' when we are young and foolish and think we know everything, and our parents know nothing...
My mom tried to warn me, because she was just starting to deal with skin cancer on her face...know what I told her, "Mom, by the time I'm old enough to get skin cancer or wrinkles, there will be a cure"...
I really wish I had listened to my mom then...who knew that only 10 yrs after I made that stupid remark, I would almost die from malignant melanoma...
That's why I am trying to be the 'mom' here, to tell you guys to be careful of the sun!!!
