Maybe the EPA will have to come up with a universal average user profile, and then rate vehicles on a cost per year basis. Since the goal is to compare apples to apples, this number would work on any car. Since the Leaf can't do long trips, figure in the cost of renting a car for the profile. The biggest hurdle for EV's is how states will get their road taxes, can we expect gas taxes to be replaced with mileage taxes that you pay with your liscense fees?
