The statement "I'd buy Ford stock because they are building cars people want to buy." has the direct implication that he would
not buy GM stock specifically because they don't build cars that people want to buy, which is an absurd notion given the fact that GM sells more cars than Ford (and therefore, has more cars that people want than Ford does). Since this 'expert' apparently didn't know, or didn't care, about that rather important fact AzCamaroFan asked a rhetorical question where the implied meaning is that the 'expert' is so clueless that he wouldn't be able to provide anything to back up his statement.
