I photoshopped that pic. That one is actually hot pink. Mine was the purple. It looks much more like the photoshopped pic than the purple in this ad from the 1980's for that guitar. These were later model HM Strats, as you can notice they lack the "Strat" logo. Also, mine has no pic guard, it's nekkid on the front, and was a maple fretboard rather than rosewood. I paid about $700 for it back then, including the case.
The "HM" designation was for "Heavy Metal". The frets are w i d e r and the neck is about half as thick as most Stratocaster guitars.
