The Laguna Seca Boss 302 is a special version and the Boss 302R is the full on race version. The regular Boss 302 with 444 HP and the red key option is a option package based on the 5.0 GT that you can order from any Ford dealer. Although it's rumored that production will be limited to around 5,000 (about the same as the GT500).

I wouldn't hold my breath for the SSX to be produced as a factory car from GM.
I like Camaro's but GM is really dropping the ball right now for Camaro lovers. Heck even though the test mules are around for the Z28 it still has not been officially announced as a production car. I'd love to see these bad boys hit the streets!!! Hopefully soon.
I'm not confused at all at what the Boss Mustang is, but thank you for trying to enlighten me. The SSX is a concept, and I didn't mean the comment about bringing it to life literally (and the tiny font was supposed to indicate a bit of tongue-in-cheek...but that's okay....)

Though it is not beyond imagining that the SSX could be brought to production in the same manner Ford transfigured the race-spec Mustang. All that needs to exist is a market for it.

No ball dropping. The Z28 is coming, and the car has only existed for 1.5 years....It's not nearly as easy to anticipate and develop a car to compete against at-the-time non-existant competitor as we'd all like to think. Give it time, and if they think there's a market for it, they'll produce whatever they need to.

Remember...while we like to put Camaro and Mustang in their own little world against each other...GM has to carry the burden of the Corvette, too. Whereas Ford can focus completely on the Mustang in terms of performance cars.
