Of course, that misses the more important point that governments shouldn't be subsidizing anything. Why should I have to subsidize the novelties of environmentalists, which I myself could not afford, and whom have a much higher income? If a product can succeed without subsidy, why should it be subsidized? If it can not succeed without subsidy, why should it be in production?

It is exactly this type of choosing of winners and losers by regulators that has given us the ethanol scourge, except now it's grown to include the entire car, not just the fuel.
