I'm sorry to hear that...that sounds unusual for adoptive parents, however, there are all kinds of people out there, and not all of them are nice...
I am sorry for you and your wife, and I agree with you that in your situation, you need to protect your own feelings...
So sorry about how you were treated...you know the saying, "you can pick your friends, not your family"...I guess you need to be around people that love and respect you and your wife...
