A lot of people really like JL. Why isn't that listed? That's considered one of the top brands. Kicker has a calling, too, even though I wouldn't put it up with the greats, but some of the buyers swear by it. Audiobahn is also a great company for amps and subs, especially since their amps stay cool fairly well.
What I'm basically pointing out is that there are too many companies to really make a good list. Besides, each brand has tiers of quality. For instance, my Alpine Type E subs were nothing to a Type R, S, or X. Every company has these tiers, and it is difficult to argue that one brand is superior for every level of performance or that one brand is more bang for the buck. A lot of audio is fine tuning. You have to decide how much of that amp you are going to use, whether you are going to install extra components to keep your lights from dimming from a hard bass hit, or what size subs you are going to use. It also matters whether you like country, rap, rock, or electronica music because each system is best tuned for a certain style of output.
I'm not voting in this one. There are too many variables.
