Not really. It was more of an issue with writing staff. The creators wanted the show to be all about the back-story of Clark Kent before he becomes Superman. Because of this, they adopted the, "no tights, no flights" motto. They use the diamond 'S' pretty liberally throughout the show, so I seriously doubt there was an issue with licensing.

Can someone please explain to me my why CW and FX doesn't think we need their show's "On Demand"??  Or is it Verizion that doesn't think we need them when we want them? I would watch Smallville and Son's of Anarchy pretty much in a loop.

You could always just get the DVD's. The CW typically has the last few episodes on their website that you can stream, but I always hate doing that because the ads are glitchy on the website, plus you can't watch it "full screen" all the way through again because of the ads.
And any episode you miss is usually available for download on any of your favorite P2P file-sharing software. I always keep an electronic copy until the DVD's come out
