The American public, with their recent billion+ dollar bailout of Chrysler, should not be subsidizing 600 horsepower cars for a few hundred people to enjoy. Chrylser can't even show sustainability yet, much less an excess of money that would let them throw money away on V10 Challengers.

The question of hp is irrelevant.
The question is: is there a market for high performance cars. The answer to that for more than just a few hundred people, at least currently, is YES!
Hence the 6.4 in the new SRT8, the new 5.0 in the GT Mustang and the upcoming Z28.
