The Virago n Maxim were off shoots of the XS line, the Virago's went Vtwin that turned into the v-Star / Star Warrior line. And the Maxim a inline 4 went in that direction. And was the best of both worlds, as its a V4

I actually have a maxim front-end on my Virago to improve its sport ability even more [forks are a bit shorter] though still all stock the Virago is one of the only true dual sports bikes [though not sold as one], raved on by all the bike mags as it looks like a cruiser but head onto those twisty back roads and it will give even the most modern full sports bike a run for its money and leave the HDs in the dust.
