My H3 has the I5 and I find that for a MUCH larger and heavier vehicle with smaller displacement, it outperforms my old S-10 Blazer (2-door) and gets about the same mileage. The S-10 had the 4.3l motor in it too and it was a basic model with not a lot of options. The H3 has leather, power everything, sunroof, etc. and it's not a "dog" as some reviewers would say. SURE the thing doesn't run with the CTS or something, but for the love of god the thing is a TRUCK. It's got perfectly good acceleration and is miles ahead of most cars from the 80's and 90's. Don't these reviewers remember those days of the 10-second 0-60?
The colorado has some "plasticky" interior pieces and seats, which could be corrected by transplanting the upgraded parts from the H3 bin. The colorado is built like a tank from what I can see. My brother has one and he's splattered 2 deer with it so far. One managed to crack a headlight lens and the other bent his license plate. Try that with a car!
I heard somewhere that the GMT-355 pickups were moving quite well during the $4.00 a gallon gas days (before the economy tanked) and contractors were snapping them up because the full-size trucks were seen as gas guzzlers.
I also heard that the 3600 from the Camaro was finding it's way into the lineup along with a 6-speed auto.
