It's basically an apples to oranges comparision, but Edmunds had good things to say about the Shelby as well. It's just whatever you're into.......AWD rally car or Muscle car, both are fun and will put a smile on your face.
I have no problems with a V6 pony car. I've had 2,but i think if you are wanting a V8 Camaro or Mustang,it would be a huge mistake to go for the V6. You will always regret it the whole time you have the car,it's the same for anything. If you want a Bullitt, but settle for a GT or want a M3 or settle for a 328i. It's not about cylinders or engine size,it's about what YOU want and how patient you can be to wait for it. If you WANT a V6 Camaro, great, wonderful, but if you are pining for a SS and you can't wait so you buy a V6..........BIG MISTAKE. I don't care how good it is.
That's exactly right. Of course, we all need to be balanced and reasonable about what we buy. If we really want Gallardos, we'll be saving for our lifetimes, but when it comes to attainable domestic muscle cars, it isn't appropriate to settle. The people that don't care about their cars—not anyone on these forums because we're all fanatics—may get some inspiration driving the V6 because it is so glorious. They'll help fuel a strong aftermarket for those of us who wanted Camaros from the beginning. Those who love that 300-hp bracket and compare it to cars in the horsepower range will be elated to drive an American competitor to those Japanese powerhouses. The V8 is simply for those who can't compromise.

I want to add that it really won't matter to most drivers. We aren't all going to the track to race these beasts, so getting a V8 and not unleashing it is almost wasteful. It'll have that kick when you accelerate to the speed limit, but I think that the V6 will have plenty of that as well. For those of us who really need that power, we can't compromise with the V6. That doesn't mean that the V6 is any less amazing. These V6s look virtually the same as V8s, so many appearance packages and other accessories will go nicely with any LS or LT.

It's about priorities. If your sound system is more important than your horsepower, then you should save some dough for the music and get a V6. I'll be sacrificing the sound that I used to have for the power because I've had that in my Cobalt but was never satisfied with the roar. For me, a V8 is necessary. For those who want a fun, affordable ride for college or work, the V6 is more than impressive.
