I disagree, if people are paying $50,000 (sometimes more with dealer markups) for the GT500, then there is a market for a $50,000 Z28 that you can fit your kids in the back seat, something the corvette can't do. I think you might be in the mindset that the camaro and the vette would end up competing with each other, which I argue is not true.
