Another was for a bid for "your deposit, and spot on the waitlist." According to the listing, the higher the bid, the higher on the waitlist priority you would be. That bid got up to $4850, then the auction cancelled. That was from a dealer in Ohio.
Some of these activities should be illegal. This one above reminds me of the whole Illinois scandal going on right now. Pay to play....

You also have to watch the fine print or lack of. Some Dealers charge up to $750 Dealer Doc fees, while some are as low as $150. This is a hidden mark up. On my last new car I bought the end of Nov. the Doc fee was $579 but I negotiated it down to $379 plus free delivery.
