You have to wonder if we need them more (foreign companies) or they need us more. After all, foreign countries do buy a fair amount of products from the US, but as they find the benefits of producing these things at home, they increasingly do. Then that exported technology and revenue leaves to said country. I fail to see the long term benefit to this country. Would'nt it make more sense if the world's largest consumer was also the world's largest producer and kept that money at home? I guess you figure somebody other than you down the road will pay for all these mistakes, so I suppose ignorance really is bliss.
do you have any idea how Tariffs work?

The US Gov. applies Tariffs towards foreign products, increasing the price, so that when they are sold in the USA our gov/nation benefits from it.

For example.

say Z's cost 20k to make

the US gov. applies a 5k tariff, and Nissan applies 4k in profit margin

Every time a Z is sold in this country, 5k of that 29k goes straight to Uncle Sam.

I dont argue with buying American, but short of importing vehicles from another country every purchase helps this country.

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."
