Excited about a V6?

Call me old-school or simply living in the past, but I cannot understand how so many people in this day and age can get excited about a V6 musclecar? Contrary to what you may think, based upon the car in my signature, this is not a rant about the V6 Camaro in particular, but V6 versions of the musclecars in general. The term "V6 musclecar" is an oxymoron, anyway, in my humble opinion.

How did we get to the point in the automotive hobby where the sound of a V6, in any iteration, is music to our ears? Have we so emasculated ourselves that a natuarally-aspirated V6 version of a car is now something that a performance car enthusiast desires and not simply settles for? It is a sad day indeed.

I can understand the fact that not everyone can afford the V8 version of their car of choice (if a V8 version is even offered) but the incessant babble about how great that car is/will be, drives me crazy. To me, and this is only my opinion, so don't get bent out of shape if this rant hits home to you personally, if I were looking to buy a V6 version of a Mustang. Camaro, Challenger, etc., I would abstain from discussions about how well it is going to perform and speculation on how many V8-powered cars it is going to be able to hang with/beat in terms of performance.

To those of you who really desire the V8 version of your favorite pony/musclecar, but do not have the immediate means to buy one, I suggest you resist he urge to buy a V6 version of the same car just to say you own one and work to save the money/build the credit to get what you really want versus settling for second-best.
