First, let's all agree that the SS Camaro's, stock-for-stock, are going to beat the Mustang GT's 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc. I think we can all agree, given equal driving skill, that this is a foregone conclusion. I really don't understand why anyone would argue this.

However, I'm going to have to say that 1" of additional tire width is not going to make much of a difference at all on being able to launch the car. Maybe when you are talking about a drag radial or competiton tire, but not a street radial. My 2005 Mustang GT came with a 235/55-17 Pirelli P-Zero tire and even after switching to a wider 285/40-18 Pirelli tire, it 60ft'd pretty much the same.

How dare you bring a logical, well thought out scenario into this conversation! Don't you know that some people had the same opinion as you did with the GTO styling but went ahead and bought it simply because it was the only ponycar-esque offering from GM at the time?
