Ouch. I've worked around spiders long enough that it has become second nature to wear at least "Mechanix" brand light-duty work gloves for around the house stuff. In fact, such a pair of gloves saved my right pinky from an angry honeybee. I was at work and the bee zoomed in for a crash landing right on the floor of the delivery truck. A quick brush of the gloved hand was not enough to sweep him out; instead his legs gripped right into the fabric. I attempted to shake it off to no avail - it became like slow motion, and the skin on my hand really began to crawl. All I could do was watch the phases of the bee embedding its stinger. It was better than a front-row seat during an episode of "Animal Planet". Wow!

As for the stinger, it found its mark in the thickest portion of my glove: right on the seam. No pain, no injury, and the bee died. So that's my story - gloves work to protect!

I wish you a quick recovery!
