Oh my...where to begin.
TFord...wish you had the names and badge #'s of those pricks. I hear IA investigation all the way...indefinite suspension, AND JAIL TIME for a violation of civil rights, assault, and boy could the list go on and on. I'm sorry that happened to you.
On that topic, just FYI, my father was in the FBI for 25 or so years... When he was in DC, he worked internal investigation of civil rights violations. That's right. He put those guys in jail. My view...we are here to do a job...period. I don't take anything personally. People say sh!t to me all the time...because I'm simply one of the guys "in blue." It goes in one ear and out the other. Unless it is said directly and is a threat...then they get more charges.
There are good cops and bad cops. Just read the paper...or the stories above. Luckily, I haven't run into anyone who does crap like that. I'm sure they are out there on the dept.
We catch some pretty bad dudes. I hear stories of the extra punches being thrown in to "teach them a lesson" but again, have never seen it. Others who know me know I'm straight. If the fight is on, well....IT'S ON. Once the cuffs are on, it's over. And I try to get those cuffs on before any fight ever begins. I can usually talk people down before it gets that far....but for some...won't ever happen.
Hopefully you guys know there are the good ones out there...people who care. That's why I'm here. I do get to those moments where I have to roll my eyes when dealing w/ drama. I've explained that one before. But, it does get bad.
And on that note, another officer and I caught a murderer last Friday night...a week ago. Shooter told his wife he'd kill her and everyone else in the house if anyone called the police over a family disturbance they were having. 911 hang up came in to police. Officer shows up and exits his car. Stepmom yells police are here. Dad goes running exiting the house. 27 year old shot his dad 4 times in the back and once in the back of the head while he tried to run (officer was in the driveway when Dad was shot). He tried to kill stepmom shooting at her twice. Flees out the back door. Helicopter picks up his heat signiture in an alley. He's supposedly still armed. Me and another officer go in and get him. Got a full confession and all. Everyone went home that night....thank GOD.
This job is not easy. I don't want to get shot at, but yet I know it's probably going to happen. I do get fed up w/ stupid calls. A family of ducks crossing the road is not a freaking police matter...nor is the turtle crossing the road that I got flagged down for today....NOR IS A BARKING DOG!!! And if "this" (insert problem here) is an ongoing problem that seems to never get fixed, LEAVE A NAME AND CONTACT # SO WE CAN TELL YOU JUST WHY THE "PROBLEM" WILL NEVER GET FIXED!!! Awe heck...I feel like going straight back to the list posted.
Guys, be cool on the forum. Watch the comments, please. Some might agree, but some might get offended. If you offend someone, apologize. Don't provoke it. Don't add fuel to the fire. Just let it go and be cool. There's no need for BS here. We don't need to read the bickering.
